Specialist Subjects

At Ferny Creek Primary School, we believe every child deserves the opportunity to shine. Our specialist programs in STEM, Visual Arts, Performing Arts, Physical Education, and Auslan are designed to spark curiosity, build confidence, and nurture creativity through hands-on, meaningful learning experiences.

STEM
Our STEM program (Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics) is future-focused and inquiry-driven. Students solve real-world problems through exploration, experimentation, and collaboration. With a strong emphasis on creativity and critical thinking, our passionate educators guide learners to imagine possibilities and design solutions.

Visual Arts
In our Visual Arts program, students are encouraged to express themselves, experiment with a variety of materials, and develop their artistic skills. Guided by experienced and enthusiastic staff, children create unique artworks that reflect their ideas and emotions while building confidence in their creative voice.

Performing Arts
From music and movement to drama and performance, our Performing Arts program gives every student the chance to shine. Children explore storytelling, self-expression and stage presence in a supportive environment that builds both creativity and self-esteem. Our whole-school productions are a highlight on the school calendar.

Physical Education (PE)
Our PE program promotes active, healthy lifestyles through fun and inclusive physical challenges. Students build skills in teamwork, coordination, and resilience, all while developing a lifelong love of movement and sport.

Auslan (LOTE)
As part of our commitment to inclusive and diverse communication, students learn Auslan (Australian Sign Language). This hands-on and interactive program builds awareness, empathy and language skills, and opens new ways for students to connect and communicate.
